Welcome to red cat, the story so far...

I'm Abi Reed and welcome to the red cat website.

I create art with rich textural colour, using silk and wool, worked into a felt canvas, embellished with stitching, beads and embroidery.

I have had a passion for designing, art and crafting for as long as I can remember. A visit to the Blue Magpie shop in Dunkeld, Perthshire inspired me to learn how to felt.

I fell in love with the whole felting process immediately - getting soapy with wet felting or the precision detailing of needle felting. Fairly soon our house became full of felted objects as I experimented with my new found skill.

I've always loved creating unique presents for my children and family. One of the gifts I have made for my girls, was a pair of felt fairies which they loved. Whenever they were invited to a party, they would always ask me to make more of these as presents for their friends. The reaction from both the children and their parents was so positive that I was encouraged to start making them to sell, and the idea for red cat was born!

It wasn't until my youngest child started school that red cat could become more than just my idea.

red cat is based in Peebles, a vibrant market town nestled in the rolling hills of the Scottish Borders. I specialise in personalised hand crafted gifts and art, and sell locally, nationally, and more recently red cat's products have found homes as far afield as Hong Kong, Australia and California!

I hope your enjoy visiting my website, thank you for having a look ...
